Setting:
The Ultimate Marvel universe was one created for the current generation, a universe that was supposed to be more accessible for the new comic-reading crowds, especially after the release of all the new movies. These were supposed to be more modern, more gritty, and more relatable to the younger comic audience. This led Earth-1610 to be similar to the everyday universe. The average technology was the same, the average person was the same, all landmarks were the same, the US was the same, except, you know, the president is now Captain America.

Let me back up a little.

The most notable things about this universe are the superheroes and the mutants, who can be superheroes. The superheroes started off similarly to how the ones in Earth-616 did. Captain America was supposedly the first. He was created through the US government's experiment with a super soldier serum that enhanced all of his physical strengths. From then on, he became a shining beacon of America, until an unfortunate accident occurred and he was trapped in ice for fifty years. When he was found in current day, it led to the creation of the Ultimates, a team of superheroes, as well as many new superheroes, and the involvement of the government in these sorts of superhero origins situations. The government, unlike in the main Marvel universe, has a heavy hand in superheroes, genetic experimentation, and mostly just everything that goes wrong. Because of this, Iron Man, Spider-Man, Spider-Woman, and even Thor more or less came around through the leading of the government, the government either creating them or bringing them into the Ultimates (or both).

Spider-Man was a good example of a government-made superhero, even if he never realized it. Because of Spider-Man's un-ordinary existence, New York (or rather, Queens) got a lot stranger. This led to constant attacks by monsters, criminals rising up everywhere, the crime rate jumping, but being knocked back down by a quirky, wise guy superhero. Unfortunately, superheroes weren't the only things that were created. Supervillains came into power too, such as Norman Osborn (formally a leading CEO scientist, now a crazy-pants flaming monster dude), Otto Octavius (a crazy scientist dude with six robo-arms), and so on. These examples are notably Spider-themed villains simply because they're the most significant, and the ones that don't seem to ever really go away (until they're killed, as both are). Spider-Man became a symbol of the vigilante menace that terrorized New York, people despising him just as they did in 616.

And speaking of terrorizing, then there were mutants. They were thought to be a genetic offshoot, humans born with a unique X-Gene that allowed them to manifest powers in the strangest ways. Mutants were supposed to be the next step in evolution, but like all things that were strange and different, they became the next step in persecution and hatred. Like all those who weren't the generic white man before them, they were despised and segregated, oppressed and treated like less than human. In response to this, a team called the X-Men was created to protect mutants and be their own superhero team. They were based at Xavier's Insitute for Gifted Youngsters and became publicized and renowned almost as much as the Ultimates. Until all of that went to hell because there were also mutants that didn't agree with getting along with humans. Most notable was Erik Lehnsherr, also known as Magneto, who didn't get along with Charles Xavier, the X-Men's leader and professor. This led to a lot of fights, and Magneto pulling the whole evil mutant card as he caused one of the most notable, terrible events to occur in Earth-1610 -- Ultimatum.

This was a giant flood that wiped out all of New York and killed thousands, leading to the disbandment of the Fantastic Four, the X-Men, and almost the death of Spider-Man. Since then, the universe has been "rebooted" with most of the X-Men currently dead and the school long since abandoned. The government and the Ultimates have been facing even greater threats, and a team to replace the X-Men has come into play. That team is known as the Ultimate X, a covert ops team of mutants that is used at Nick Fury's, the director of SHIELD, whim. While all this was happening, Spider-Man was murdered by his nemesis, Norman Osborn. (Though Spidey did manage to strike a killing blow towards Norman before he died). However, the mourning did not last forever, and the Ultimates were set to face off against more enemies, like a suddenly evil Reed Richards (the former leader of the Fantastic Four).

During this time, various organizations and cities were created, like the City (I know) and Tian, two super-amazing organizations that were supposed to be paradise or whatever. Meanwhile, mutants were being treated worse than ever, to the point where places like Tian (a persecution-free floating city) and Utopia (mutant-safe land in the middle of a forest) were necessary. Mutants were being forced into concentration camps, there were laws being created against their kind, and the US was falling apart (shown in the crossover story arc, Divided We Fall), dissolving into a Civil War. But out of the ashes rises something silly in this metaphor, and in the end, Captain America becomes president. See? The government does have a pretty strong hand with superheroes.

Meanwhile, you have Liz Allan, your regular high school girl. She went to school where Spider-Man, did so she experienced most of the craziness that comes with superheroes. In fact, she was Mary Jane Watson (Spider-Man's girlfriend's) best friend, so it became unavoidable. To make matters worse, she turned out to be a mutant, so off to the X-Men she went. When that didn't work out? Guess who was on the Ultimate-X team.

Yep.

Personality:
Liz Allan did not start off as the nicest of girls. Best friend of Mary Jane Watson, she could have been considered your generic popular girl. She was pretty, and she wasn't the smartest, but she wasn't dumb either. She tended to look down on people who weren't at her "level", and she dated Flash Thompson, the high school king and resident bully. The only thing that stood out about her was her extreme disdain for mutants. In fact, she could've been called mutantphobic. She would run off when they were mentioned or demand to change the conversation. She just did not like them, apparently because her uncle was a mutant.

Regardless, she wasn't too terrible of a girl. She was nice enough as long as she didn’t know you were a mutant (if you were one!), but she tended to take risks and make dumb decisions, like sneaking out to go to a party and then trying to make out with Peter Parker while super drunk. She easily fell for boys, such as when Johnny Storm transferred into the school. However, he made her so nervous that she was unable to ask him out herself, and failed to act as cool as she hoped. But she didn't really get any focus on her personality until the most ironic thing that could happen happened.

It turned out that Liz was a mutant. Before finding this out, she was extremely stubborn and thick-headed, refusing to change her mind on how much she disliked mutants, to the point where she would never speak to someone again if she thought they were a mutant. After her mutant powers showed up, she was stubborn in refusing to admit that this was happening to her. Liz was someone who grew up in such normal situations that her reactions to abnormal things were... normal.

She tends to freak out more often than not, and to be a little irrational. When something she doesn't know how to handle happens, she will scream and flail, she will be unable to think properly, she will make poor decisions, and she will cry, such as when she found out she was a mutant and went through every possible negative reaction to being on fire. She's a little hot-headed and she tends to panic more often than not. However, as said earlier, she is a sweet girl. Her loyalty to her friends (regardless of the whole mutantphobia thing) is pretty remarkable, such as her love for Mary Jane Watson and her growing concern for Peter Parker.

After moving to California, she grew up a little. She was still the pretty, popular girl, and she still proved to be a little shallow. She abandoned her half-brother when he was deemed uncool. In fact, she hated him, because he was a reminder of her father, who was a mutant, and a terrible one at that. Liz can be a cruel person in that way; she'll say things that seem harsh without thinking of consequence or other people's reactions. She can be selfish in that she doesn't really consider anyone else's feelings, especially when her own are on edge. But she'll come through when it matters, even if the result isn't what was wanted. She'll eventually stand up for you, which makes her seem like a bad person, but she's just someone stuck in situations that she doesn't know how to deal with.

Upon joining Karen Grant, who was actually Jean Grey in disguise (or not in disguise, it’s not really a secret) and the Ultimate X, she's gotten a little more responsible. She's become a bit more serious, in that she doesn't freak out too much (which may just be poor writing), but she's still loyal to the end. She followed Karen all the way to Tian, and she was reluctant to leave (and so didn't), even though Jimmy Hudson, a fellow teammate and the son of Wolverine, did. She's innocent and naive in some regards still, always being a follower and never a leader. Despite her seeming weak and too ignorant to be of any help, Liz has her moments of heroicness and of aggression. When the crazy Christian people were attacking the Institute, she hid in a corner and cried. She was so desperate for someone to come save her that she just sat there and waited, until a fellow classmate, Toad , talked her up. And then she was all aggression. And Liz has her time to shine where she’s willing to protect anyone and be the Big Damn Hero.

Liz has lost a lot of her mutantphobia, but there are moments when she just doesn't want to deal with any of the craziness anymore. She doesn't want to be a mutant. She doesn't want to be weird. She just wants to be normal. Liz never even wanted to be a hero, but the role was thrust upon her. She joined Karen because she wanted somewhere safe to be, somewhere where she could possibly help people, without having to be an "X-Man" or a "hero". She wanted to protect others who suffered like she did for being a mutant, which was exactly what the X Team did.

Still, she's just incredibly conflicted.

In Tu Shanshu, oh, she will panic. She will freak out. She will be desperate for a way out, or at least some way to get help. She'll try to find a way to contact her teammates and spend days hunting for them or anyone she knows. In the end, she'll give up. She'll reluctantly take to being stuck on a turtle with no way out, and she will try to adapt. That doesn't mean that she's losing hope that someone will come help her, but it does mean that she will eventually integrate. Without someone to lead her, though, her going back to her heroing ways might be a little difficult.

Appearance:
5'5" and 125 lbs, Liz was definitely your average, teenage high school queen. She's remarkably pretty, with wavy (almost curly) blonde hair squares her face, bangs cut straight over her eyebrows, and goes down to just past her shoulders with blue eyes and a nicely dimpled face. (Except sometimes when she's a redhead??? ) She's slender with long legs and she seems abnormally pretty. Until she sets herself on fire and her entire body is covered in flames. Ah well. C'est la vie.
Flameless and flaming.

Abilities:
Known as Firestar, Liz is capable of literally setting herself on fire. Her mutant powers manifest as being able to create flames on her body, much like the Human Torch. Presumably her powers are similar to the main universe Firestar, whose powers are drawn through microwave energy. However, that is not confirmed, so from what it is seen, Liz can:
  • Use the fire to carry her body in flight
  • Shoot flames in offensive attacks that can also be heated to ridiculous degrees
  • Manipulating said flames to do whatever she wants

Inventory:
  • 1 (one) X uniform
  • 1 (one) pack of bubblegum

Suite: Fire sector, and just one floor is fine. Fire simply for the fact that she sets herself on fire (and because before everything went to hell, she lived in a rather nice mansion that her father's money bought for her) and one floor because she's not picky.

In-Character Samples:
Third Person:
This wasn't a solo mission. She hadn't told Derek or Karen that she was leaving (not permanently, of course, but just going out on her own), but she wanted to take some time to herself. When she wasn't saving children from human trafficking, or whatever other mission that Karen sent her on, she was back on Tian, keeping an eye on Kitty and the other mutants in Utopia. She had never imagined herself somewhere like this, doing things like what she did. Was she a hero? She wasn't really sure she could answer that.

Lately, things had been weird.

Liz flew over the ocean, flames burning the air around her as she streaked through the sky like a glowing bullet. She had gotten a lot better about her powers. The constant use of them helped, which was so different from when she was afraid to even light herself. The few months she was at the Xavier Institute seemed so long ago. The flood, the whole Banshee thing...

And now she was on Tian. She wasn't quite sure how she ended up there. Nick Fury had sent her, sent the team in with Hawkeye to get the Serum back. She'd never expected to stay. But Karen wanted to, and Karen seemed so strange lately, too. Well, stranger than normal. Or rather, Jean. She wanted to be called Jean again. Ever since Kare -- Jean started working closely with Xorn, she had been acting stranger and stranger. More distant, even. Not that they were close to begin with, but Liz noticed. She just didn't say anything. She exhaled, a stream of fire emerging from her lips and trailing behind her like a thin train. She dove downwards in the air, hands pointed in front of her as she skimmed the surface of the ocean, the fire around her sizzling the water and evaporating it before she rose upwards again.

She was in a good place, though, she knew. Xian was supposed to be a refuge for mutants and the persecuted. And that was good. She knew what it was like, running from the law, living in shady motel rooms. They wanted to help mutants and they were. But whatever Kitty was doing... that was disrupting what they were trying to do, and that was bad.

They had abandoned Nick Fury, though. They had run away. Again.

It seemed Liz was always running away now. She was getting good at that. There were times when she wondered how her mother was doing, now that both of her children were gone. Now that Liz was gone again. There were still moments when she felt bitterness towards her mother, but it didn't last long. When her powers had first activated, Liz had hated her so much for hiding this from her, hiding who her true father was. For never telling her that she could possibly be a mutant. But Liz had hated mutants because they were abnormal and because they scared her for being so.

Things were different now.

Liz hovered, floating on her back as the fire rose up around her. Things seemed so surreal now. It was baffling. One moment, she was an ordinary girl who did ordinary things, and now, she lived on a floating city in the sky with what could possibly be the strongest mutant in the universe.

Moments like this, sometimes, she scared herself.

[ when the video clicks on, there's a flash of red and orange and yellow (fire?) before it clears and there's a blonde girl wearing a black leather uniform. she fidgets and fiddles with her her hairband before clearing her throat. ]

Um! Hi... ! Um, when I signed up for this whole... [ she gestures to the uniform ] ... job thingy, no one mentioned this dying... thing! I don't -- [ she takes a deep breath, brandishing her hands ]

I don't. Understand how I'm here. They explained it to me. They, like, they told me everything. I guess they tell everyone. But I flew [ her hands slide forward ] and it's a turtle! Like, we're on a turtle! How is that even possible?

I mean, I've seen some really weird things. I'm not an Ultimate or anything, but... I used to be a normal teenage girl. Like, I went to high school and stuff. And now I'm -- I'm -- [ her voice chokes. this is obviously too much for her. ] I -- I just want to go home. To Tian, I mean. I need to get back to Tian.

[ she stops abruptly and shakes her head. ] -- S-sorry. My name is Liz, by the way. Lizzie, sometimes, I guess. It's... nice to meet everyone, I guess. Woof.

[ feed cuts. ]
